Installing Ricoh Transform features

Before you install any Ricoh Transform features:
  • Make sure that your primary computer meets the additional hardware and software requirements specified.
  • The primary server must be connected to a valid domain name server on the network.
  • Make sure the AFP Support feature is installed.
  • The Ricoh Transform features are installed in trial mode. To continue using the Ricoh Transform features after the trial period, you must purchase each transform that you want to use and a license key for it.

    • You must use the legacy user interface for this procedure.

To see whether a Ricoh Transform feature is running in trial mode, click Image → About features in the upper right corner of any Ricoh ProcessDirector page. To see how many days remain for each feature in trial mode, select View log in the System Summary portlet to open the system log.

This task does not apply to the Advanced Transform feature. If you are installing the Advanced Transform feature, use the instructions for installing features using Feature Manager. To install a Ricoh Transform feature:
  1. Log in as the root user.

You must log in as a user with UID 0. Do not use sudo or the su command to become the root user.
  2. Open a command line and enter this command to make sure you are in the root directory:

    cd /

  3. Verify that the path environment variable for the root user contains an entry for a Java Runtime Environment:
    1. To see the contents of the path environment variable, enter:

      echo $PATH

    2. In the information that is displayed, look for an entry for Java Runtime Environment or JRE.

If you see either of those entries, continue with the next step.

    3. If you do not see either of those entries, add the path to the JRE that is included with Ricoh ProcessDirector. Enter:

      export PATH=$PATH:/opt/infoprint/ippd/jre/bin

  4. Insert the appropriate Ricoh Transform feature DVD.
  5. If you already have a CD file system defined (named /cdrom, for example), you can insert the disk and enter:

    mount /cdrom

To determine whether or not you already have a file system defined, enter:

    /usr/sbin/lsfs | grep cdrfs | awk ‘{print $3}’

  6. If you do not have a CD file system present, you can create one.
    1. Determine the name of the CD device by entering:
      lsdev -Cc cdrom
    2. Create the CD file system for device ‘cd0’ at mount point ‘/cdrom’ by entering:
      /usr/sbin/crfs -v cdrfs -p ro -d’cd0 -m’/cdrom’
  7. Enter this command to start the installation program:

    /cdrom/setup

  8. Select the appropriate language for the installer to use and click OK.
  9. Reply to any prompts in the installer.
When the installer asks you to choose a directory to install the transform in, you can choose a directory on any drive. However, you cannot choose a directory with international characters (such as á, É, î, ñ, ô, ß) or double-byte characters anywhere in the directory path.

The installation program analyzes the system. If it reports any errors, follow the instructions to correct them.

If the installation program finds an older version of the Ricoh Transform feature, you must uninstall it. All custom configurations or resources associated with the older version are also deleted.

If this is the first Ricoh Transform feature installed, the program detects that the Transform Feature Base is not installed. Click Next to install it.

The installation program checks for missing dependencies. If it finds any, they appear in the installation window, along with instructions how to correct the problem and continue the installation.

  10. Review the information in the Pre-Installation Summary window and click Install.
When the installation program completes, it shows a summary, including information about accessing the user interface with a Web browser. The default password is nopassword.
  11. When the installer completes, click Done.
  12. Unmount and eject the DVD.
  13. If you have another Ricoh Transform feature to install, repeat this procedure beginning with the step to insert the appropriate Ricoh Transform feature DVD, described above. Make sure you install all the Transform features before you install the license key.

If you upgrade Ricoh ProcessDirector and install the license key before you upgrade all the Transform features, the Transform features you did not upgrade stop working.
