Embedding raster fonts
All raster fonts are transformed to AdobeType3 fonts and embedded within the PDF document.
Using Type3 fonts for raster fonts reduces the size of the PDF file and makes the PDF searchable.
The afp2pdf transformer creates a temporary cnv file to be used by ICU for the conversion of text from Unicode to the specified codepage and for the conversion of text from
the code page to Unicode.
For custom-created FOCA fonts that contain glyphs that do not comply with the IBM naming convention, the conversion to Unicode
cannot be made and the resulting text will display correctly but it will not be searchable within the PDF file
