Adjusting the upper and lower tension arm springs on the Infoprint 4000

Note:
The upper tension arm spring hardware is present only if the Infoprint Forms Management Feature is installed.

Use the upper tension spring when 0133 SKEW ERROR is posted or when forms are wrinkling. These conditions can occur when:

Figure 66 shows the location of the upper tension arm bracket (1), the spring hook (2), and the reel assembly (3). The spring increases the contact of the form with the preheat platen. This reduces the uneven shrinkage of the forms that causes the forms to skew.

For normal printing, the spring should be disconnected. If it becomes necessary to use the spring, start by putting the spring hook in position 1 (the lightest force). Select higher positions as necessary to increase the force, with position 4 being the highest position.

To attach or adjust the spring hook, grasp the ring (2) and pull it slightly to attach or detach it from the tension arm bracket (1).

Use the lower tension spring to reduce tension on very lightweight forms that otherwise might tear or become deformed.

Figure 67 shows the location of the lower tension arm bracket (1), the spring hook (2), and the reel assembly (3). The spring decreases the contact of the form with the preheat platen. This reduces the uneven shrinkage of the forms that causes the forms to skew.
